A woman accused of stabbing her church brother was further remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The accused, Simone Allen, is charged with unlawful wounding. Allen is alleged to have used a knife to stab the complainant, her church brother, who was reported to have barred her from entering the church property because of her rowdy conduct.
Allen's lawyer made a request to the sitting magistrate to have her client transferred from Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre in St Catherine, to what she deems more suitable environs for her client, at the Bellevue Hospital in Kingston.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey informed the legal representative that it was not within her authority to grant her such a request.
"Shakespeare say sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. Once a doctor diagnose her unfit to plead. We don't just lock her up and keep her there (Fort Augusta)," RM Pusey explained.
The magistrate ordered that Allen be remanded until April 27 pending the outstanding psychiatric evaluation.
Subsequently, Allen was seen crying as she was ushered away by officers.
"Simone, don't cry. We're gonna take care of you," RM Pusey reassured.
