Cow escapes police custody

Crystal Harrison, Staff Reporter

It remains a mystery for investigators in St Mary as to how a cow went missing from their safe keeping.

THE STAR understands that, earlier this month, police arrested two men after they were unable to provide a proper account for the cow that was found in their possession. They were subsequently taken into custody.

Reports are that checks made by the police revealed that the cow was stolen.

The men have been charged with simple larceny and are to appear in court on Monday in the parish.

Superintendent in charge of the St Mary Police Division, Dean Johnson, said the matter was still under investigation.

He told THE STAR that the stolen cow was being kept at a secure area at the station but, "We really don't know if the animal strayed, but we suspect that it was removed some time in the night."
