Teacher charged with wife's murder

A St Cathrine teacher has been charged with the murder of his wife who was shot and killed in Portmore, St Catherine, four months ago.

He is Sean Coffie, 32, of Cumberland, Portmore in St Catherine.

THE STAR has been informed that Coffie was charged by detectives from the St Catherine South Major Investigation Task Force on Monday following months of intensive investigation.

It was revealed that Sasha-Gay was killed in October last year near her home in West Cumberland after being attacked by gunmen. This was after she survived a similar attack in April.

Coffie is also before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court where he is answering the charges of conspiracy, shooting with intent in connection with the April incident.

His troubles started to multiply as a cellular phone he handed over to the police was searched and semi-nude pictures of underage girls were allegedly found. He was subsequently charged with breaches of the Child Pornography Act.

He had been granted bail in the sums of $1.5m and $1m, respectively, but was, however, taken back into custody as a result of the murder charge.
