Man beats woman at police station

A two-month sentence was recently given to a man who has been accused of punching his girlfriend at a police station.

Dwight Miller, who has been charged with assault, was sentenced by Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Allegations are that, during a dispute, Miller threatened to kill the female complainant.

The complainant reported the matter to the police and the court heard that, while both parties were at the police station, Miller punched the woman.

When asked by the RM why he punched his girlfriend, the accused said that the complainant didn't go home one night.

"I didn't punch her, I push her on the side of her head and said to her, 'how you so wicked?' She didn't come home and I told her that she need to explain some things to me," Miller said.
