US tourist drowns in Negril

A tourist from the United States drowned at sea in Negril, Westmoreland on the weekend. According to police reports, 43-year-old David McCormick, of Garnein Lane in Pennsylvania, is suspected to have drowned at sea at a popular hotel in the parish on Saturday.

The hotel, however, denied this allegation, stating that McCormick drowned while at another hotel located next door their property, while hanging out with friends.

Reports from the Negril police are that at 3:20 p.m, McCormick was swimming when he got into difficulties and drowned before help could reach him.

The Negril police are currently investigating.
