Bail trouble lands elderly man in court

An elderly man has found himself in trouble with the law as three persons who he bailed failed to show up for their matters in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.

Kenneth Hardy is to pay over a total of $55,000 to the State after he applied for bail for three accused men in separate matters.

Hardy, who was already given an extension to pay up the monies, was again given another two weeks by the presiding magistrate.

He told the court that he is unable to pay the money and that he would have to rely on his pension package to offset the debt.

Resident Magistrate Simone Wolf-Reece said that it is do or die, as she explained to Hardy that he will not be given another chance.

The prosecution is alleging that Hardy is in the business of bailing persons.
