Woman accused of stealing from employer


A woman who is accused of stealing over $400,000 from her employer pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny as a servant when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.


Charged is Daveta Gutzmore of a Passagefort, St Catherine, address.


It is alleged that while employed to a firm as a customer service representative, Gutzmore manipulated transaction information by duplicating encashments causing monies to be paid out which she allegedly converted to her own use. It is alleged that she stole a total of $440,151.61 from the company.


A report was made to the Fraud Squad and she was subsequently arrested and charged.


Gutzmore is to return to court on September 15.
