A St Catherine man who allegedly molested a nine-year-old girl, who he reportedly promised mangoes, was offered $150,000 bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. The accused who is 32, was offered bail after a successful application by attorney-at-law Lancelot Clarke Jnr.

He told the court that despite the accused being charged by the police, he has lived an exemplary life up until that time

and would attend court to clear his name.

Resident Magistrate Anmarie Nembhard granted bail on condition that the accused relocate from the community in which the offence took place.

Despite telling the court that he operated a farm in the community he was told that he would have to farm elsewhere for the duration of the trial.

He is to report to the Spaldings Police Station in Clarendon until the matter is disposed of by the court.

The allegations are that the accused was at home when he lured the complainant home under the guise that he would give her 'ripe mangoes'.

It was then that he allegedly touched her inappropriately. The child ran and made an alarm which resulted in the police

being called and the man sub- sequently charged with sexual touching.
