A number of motorists using sections of the Vineyards section of the Highway 2000 toll road exit near the Duncan Pen round-a-bout in St Catherine, have complained about the lack of proper signs.
But checks by THE STAR have revealed that the situation is not unique to that area, as several signs on the toll roads have gone missing.
According to motorists, whenever they are entering the toll road from Old Harbour heading in the direction of either Kingston or Clarendon, there are hardly any signs.
Many claimed that the situation is dangerous especially for those who don't know of the area.
When THE STAR visited the stretch of road several posts were observed with no signs in place.
Meanwhile the Spanish Town police said they have received reports from the toll road operators that signs are constantly stolen whenever they have been erected.
"Yes the scrap iron business has benefited while persons continue to steal the signs and place the public in danger, but we are still investigating the matter," a senior investigator at the Spanish Town police station told THE STAR.
Further checks revealed while signs are missing, items such as batteries, bulbs and wires have also been stolen from the highway.
The police have promised to monitor the situation and try to get those responsible for the theft.
