A man and woman were hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court in a case and cross case on Monday, following a dispute between them which took a violent turn.
Charged with assaulting a female and assault occasioning bodily harm is 20-year-old Andrew Anderson. His child's mother, Oshin Bryan was charged with unlawful wounding.
It is believed that Anderson and Bryan got into a heated argument which turned physical. It is said that Anderson started to fight the mother of his child when she used a knife to stab him in his shoulder.
The estranged couple were previously ordered to attend counselling sessions.
"You found it useful? It help you in any way?" inquired Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

The pair were seemingly unsure if any resolution materialised from the counselling sessions.
"No? You're done with him? Would you like me to send him to prison?" RM Pusey asked Bryan.
"No Your Honour, just tell him to leave me alone," she replied.
Turning her attention to Anderson, RM Pusey stated: "You spoil up the thing yu nuh? Yu beat beat her up too much. Why won't you take the counselling? You're all right now, because nothing don't trigger your anger."
The sitting magistrate further cautioned the male accused.
"Let me tell you something, you going to anger management. You see if you don't go, I'm going to make you manage some anger down at GP."
Upon being asked how he thought the case against his babymother should be dealt with, Anderson indicated that "she all right", suggesting that he is unwilling to pursue a case against her.
Subsequently, no evidence was offered against her. Anderson had his bail extended and was ordered to attend anger management sessions. He is to return to court on November 28 for a mention hearing.
