A motorist who allegedly presented a fictitious insurance cover note to the police to retrieve a seized motor car, is to answer to fraud charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Charged with possession of forged document, uttering forged document, conspiracy to defraud and forgery is Rod Oneil Watson, a 38-year-old labourer of Devon Pen in St Mary.
The accused was held on Friday when he went to the Police Traffic Division on Elletson Road in Kingston and presented several documents in connection with his Toyota Probox motorcar.
When he presented the documents, bearing the markings of a prominent insurance company, it was examined by police personnel and found to lack certain security features. The police said when the company was contacted it denied any knowledge of the cover note.
A further investigation which was conducted by Detective Corporal Kirk Roache, led to fraud charges being brought against Watson.
He is booked to appear in court on August 22 to answer to the charges.
