A Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) private and three other men accused of robbing a Rubis petrol station in Port Morant, St Thomas, were granted bail after they appeared in the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Private Chiwale Lindsay, 25, from Port Morant, who is accused of being the mastermind behind the robbery, was granted $500,000 bail. He is barred from living in St Thomas and is expected to report to the Duhaney Park Police Station and observe a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Curfew

Lindsay has been ordered to turn over his travel documents and a stop order has been placed at all ports of exit.

His co-accused, Omar McHardy, 18, was granted $350,000 bail, with the condition to report to the Franklyn Town Police Station, and to observe a curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily. Doshane Mitchell, 18, and a 17-year-old boy were granted $450,000 bail each and are also to report to the Franklyn Town Police Station and observe the curfew.

Allegations are that on September 5, 2014, two armed men robbed the station's supervisor and cashier of approximately $100,000, before escaping in a grey station wagon.

A car fitting that description was intercepted on the Lyssons main road with the four accused on board. A preliminary search revealed two 9mm pistols with 12 live rounds. The men were taken into custody and another search revealed $67,000.00 in cash. The men are to return to court on November 28, 2014.
