A St Catherine man who told the court that he was guilty of breaking into a house and stealing a quantity of goods was sentenced when he appeared in court on Tuesday.

Cleveland Murdock, unemployed of Guys Hill, St Catherine, was sentenced to nine months hard labour in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court.

When Murdock appeared before Resident Magistrate Anmarie Nembhard, he begged for mercy.

Stole appliances

"Your honour, I am going to deal with the music business and stop breaking into people's house,'' Murdock said before he was sentenced.

The RM told him that he needed to change his lifestyle and should use the time to reflect.

Murdock's appearance in court arose from a July incident in Guys Hill, St Catherine, when he reportedly broke into a house and stole appliances valued over $600,000.

He was held in a neighbouring parish and was subsequently charged with house breaking and larceny.

Murdock's Social Enquiry Report revealed that he had just completed a sentence for sacrilege at the time of the offence.
