Accused orange thieves get bail extension

Two men accused of stealing a quantity of oranges from Trade Winds Citrus Limited are to reappear in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court on March 24 next year.

Jason Dean Baugh and Junior Walters had their bails extended until that time.

On Friday when the matter was mentioned in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court, attorney-at-law Sean Kinghorn successfully applied for a truck involved in the case to be released on bond.

The 1989 Isuzu truck, which is Baugh's property and valued at $240,000, was released on a bond of $600,000.

Resident Magistrate Horace Mitchell then agreed to the request and told the accused not to alter or sell the vehicle.

Allegations are that in February last year, about 7:30 a.m., security personnel saw the truck on the property.

It was laden with 146 bags of oranges valued at $292,000.

The police were called and both accused were held.

They were subsequently charged with larceny. Both accused men have made numerous court appearances.
