Teen raped after school pageant

Residents of a community in Clarendon have expressed shock at what they say is yet another alleged case of rape that took place in close proximity to a popular high school recently.

THE STAR understands that sometime after a talent contest hosted by the school earlier this month, a teenager leaving the venue was attacked and raped.

Information reaching our news desk suggests that an incident of a similar nature involving another teenage girl had also taken place in the vicinity prior to this incident.

The Clarendon police personnel when contacted by THE STAR were able to confirm the latest rape incident. "It was reported," a police officer said. The person was however reluctant to provide any further details.

Growing concern

A representative from the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) established that the matter is under investigation.

"I know that there was a rape reported that happened within that vicinity.

I can say this much, it had something to do with the pageant, going or coming from it," said the CISOCA representative.

In response to residents growing concern about the frequency of incidents of a similar nature occurring in the area, the representative stated: "If it is happening, then they are not reporting it. Whoever it happened to, is not reporting it, because we don't have any previous reports in that area."

Meanwhile, outraged residents are appealing to the security forces to step up their vigilance in the area.
