Three men accused of robbing a bar in Portmore St Catherine, were remanded when they appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday
They are Daniel Kelly, Denzil Friths and Anthony Davis all of Kingston addresses.
When the case was mentioned, an attorney who represented Kelly gave a glowing account of him while applying for bail.
The court was told that Kelly was an account executive of sound character, and normally uses his car to carry passengers after work.
''Your Honour, when the police stopped the car a man ran from the front leaving all these items of which my client had no control over,'' the lawyer said
Bail was denied as the court was told that it was two hours after the incident that the three were held by the police with the items that were stolen.
Old Braeton
Allegations are that on June 14 about 9:40 p.m., the complainants were at a bar in Old Braeton, St Catherine, when three men entered.
One of the men was reportedly armed with a gun and they set about robbing the bartender of her cellular phone, $4,500, liquor and cigarettes, and escaped in a waiting motor car.
About 11:40 p.m., police personnel stopped a Nissan motor car allegedly driven by Kelly. The vehicle was searched and eight cellular phones and bottles of liquor were seen.
A search of the vehicle revealed a 357 Magnum revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
All three occupants were taken into police custody and the complainants later identified the phone and liquor that were robbed.
They were subsequently charged with robbery with aggravation.
