Child cries as ... Uncle beats dad with board


A fight between two brothers that unfolded before their spouses and children, resulted in the older sibling being fined on Friday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court for using a pickaxe stick to create injury.


Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Ferron Jack.


The accused pleaded guilty and offered the court an explanation. Jack told the court, "Your Honour, he held a knife at my girlfriend's neck and I saw what was happening and had to defend it. He is the reason why it had to happen."


Viciously hit


The court was told that on the day in question Jack, the older of the two siblings, used a pickaxe stick to viciously hit his younger brother across his head and back resulting in injuries.


The court was also told by the complainant that the incident occurred in front of his weeping daughter.


The complainant said, "Your Honour, his woman stood there shouting for him to kill mi, and my daughter was there crying saying you a go kill daddy."


Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey scolded the older Jack telling him he had no right to inflict wounds using a pickaxe on his brother.


Jack was fined $30,000 or six months' imprisonment. His fingerprints were also requested.
