Man escapes custody, gets three months

A man accused of escaping from the Mountain View Police Station lock-up was sentenced to three months in prison when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.


Charged with escaping custody is Howard Dixon, who pleaded guilty.


Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey inquired of the accused man whether he had anything to say, to which he replied: "Policeman fire shot and tell mi fi gwan, Miss."


Subsequently, the sitting magistrate sentenced Dixon to three months' imprisonment. He was ordered to return to court on August 19 for a mention hearing regarding another matter before the courts. A fingerprint order was also made.
