Yesterday's resumption of the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry into the killing of more than 70 civilians during a May 2010 police-military operation was postponed.
The Star understands that the enquiry's chairman, Sir David Simmons, is not well.
The nature of his illness is not immediately clear and a new resumption date has not been ascertained.
Sir David is assisted by former High Court judge Hazel Harris and university professor Anthony Harriott.
The enquiry should have resumed for its third session following a break in February.
The multimillion-dollar enquiry started last December.
When proceedings restart, former Police Commissioner Owen Ellington is expected to continue his testimony at the Jamaica Conference Centre.
Since the start of the enquiry, about 30 witnesses, including former Prime Minister Bruce Golding and members of his Cabinet during 2009 and 2010, have testified.
