A cheerful deportee was among the gathering which stood along the Sir Florizel Glasspole Boulevard in the vicinity of the Harbour View Shopping centre, hoping to get a glimpse of President Barack Obama during his historic visit.


Wesley 'Deportee' Williams, who was all decked out in his 'OBAMA' attire for the occasion, told THE STAR he travelled from his community in Duhaney Park to Harbour View just because of the Obama euphoria.


Williams said, "I am here to see Obama for what he does for black people and Jamaicans, and also white people, because if he wasn't a good president, he couldn't rule America for two terms; so the people must see something why they have him there."


When he was told of the eventuality that he might not see the president up close, Williams said, "Well I've seen him already, enuh - in Florida and in Georgia."


Williams continued, "But fi see a the first him a come a my country, mi proud and a celebrate the moment as a black man - one of the greatest black men ever come in a Jamaica."


Armed with pictures and memorabilia, he told THE STAR that he was hoping that his family in the US could see him.


"My wife and kids deh America, I got deported, yea, but yuh know how it go already, but a nuh nothing. I don't feel anyway", said Williams.


He told our news team that he held no grievances with the US over his deportation and also admitted that life for him was better there.


Williams said, "Mi love America more than ya so! Mi never hungry in a America yet only Jamaica, God Bless America!"


Meanwhile, The 44th President of the US, Barak Obama, touched down on Jamaican soil about 7:30 p.m. last evening and was greeted on arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) by various heads of Government.


He is schedule to depart Jamaica later this afternoon for a summit in Panama.
