A teacher who is accused of boxing a male student has been reportedly brought to the attention of the Ministry of Education.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the incident at school occurred a few days after the second-form student had a freak accident.

It was reported that as a result of the accident, the teen had received an injury close to his eye.

Further reports are that the student visited a doctor and was instructed to stay home for a couple days, however, it's alleged that during class one day at school, the teacher turned and boxed the boy on the same wound on his face.

outburst in class

It was alleged that the teen was boxed because he made an outburst in class.

THE STAR understands that the school wanted to deal with the matter internally, and that the police had not become involved, however, it's reported that one of the boy's parents had brought the matter to the attention of the Ministry of Education.

Byron Buckley, the Ministry of Education's director of corporate communications, said that he couldn't confirm or deny the incident.

"What normally happens is that the school would prepare a critical incident report to the relevant regional office and the ministry would take it from there to see if there are any legal implications," Buckley said.
