Some motorists who were affected by the two- day gas strike are happy that the tanker drivers are back on the job, however, they wished they had an alternative.
"You know how things go, it's not all di time you full up your tank. Yu think a likkle gas station me check only to find out that there is no gas. Nothing can't go like this. This is a plan ting, dats why people should have options," a motorist, who was spotted at a service station along Half-Way Tree Road, St Andrew, told THE WEEKEND STAR.
"Yea, man! Dem ting yah mek you really wish we had an alternative because what if dem never decide that they gonna return to the job. What would happen to the country?" a taxi-operator added.
Another motorist said: "It's not good to have monopoly in no situation, whether with water, light, or gas, because people can do as dem please. Mi understand dat dem want a new package, but it shouldn't be that we are at their mercy."
Tanker drivers returned to work at 5 a.m. yesterday, following the signing of a new wage and fringe benefit agreement.
The agreement was arrived at close to midnight on Wednesday, during a meeting with the National Workers Union and the Petroleum Haulage Contractors Association.
