The St Andrew Central police have began a probe into the fatal shooting of a man yesterday morning, minutes after he dropped his son at a school in the Corporate Area.

The dead man has been identified as 35-year-old Rohan 'Rudy' Newman.

Information reaching THE STAR is that Newman was shot close to the Tarrant Primary School, off Molynes Road.

Reports from the police are that Newman was dropping a child off at 8 a.m. A lone assailant, reportedly on foot, fired several shots in his direction. Newman was hit multiple times before collapsing inside his vehicle.

Eyewitnesses said two children were in the car, and although visibly shaken, they were unharmed.

The police investigation continues.
