A man accused of punching a female janitor in the face as she carried out her duties had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Charged with assaulting a female is 22-year-old designer, Ricardo Rookwood, of a Gordon Town, St Andrew, address.
Allegations are that on October 12, the female complainant, who is a janitor employed to the Bustamante Hospital for Children, was attending to her duties on one of the hospital's wards. While working, the complainant utilised a 'wet' sign when it is said that a barefooted Rookwood approached the area. It is believed that the complainant told the accused man that he cannot walk inside the ward without wearing shoes. This, however, was reportedly not taken very well by Rookwood, who allegedly started to behave in a boisterous manner, hurling a string of expletives.
It is further alleged that the accused man uttered "a lick mi fi lick unu inna yu face" during the verbal onslaught. Soon after, the accused is alleged to have used the palm of his right hand to push the complainant's face as he was grasping a baby with his left arm.
Consequently, the police were summoned and the accused man was arrested and charged.
In court, the accused man had his bail extended by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey until January 15, pending a mention hearing, making allowances for the complainant to be present in court.
