Supermarket fight draws crowd

Tempers flared at a popular Red Hills Road, St Andrew, shopping establishment yesterday, following an alleged dispute that turned physical between two female patrons jostling for fruitcake.

Alleged witnesses told THE WEEKEND STAR that sometime yesterday, a woman accompanied by her husband was reportedly attacked by another woman. The woman was reportedly punched in the face, and bitten on her breast by the other woman during the fracas.

It is believed that the two were in an argument over a fruitcake, which is seemingly a popular item among shoppers during the Christmas holiday season at the establishment.

While no official report was filed, the Constant Spring police told our news team that they are aware of the incident.

"A man called in to say that his wife was bitten by another woman in her breast and it sink way down," a police source said. "After that, they called back and said that the police shouldn't bother to come because they resolved the matter by themselves."

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a video in circulation on the popular social network Instagram shows scenes of shoppers at the establishment scampering, as others scrambled for remaining packages of pastry off shelves. In the footage, two female shoppers are observed jostling in attempts to secure rapidly depleting pastries.

The police have been maintaining a presence at the enterprise, as it has seen a massive influx of patrons presumably as a result of the holiday season.

The police told THE WEEKEND STAR that no charges have so far been laid against any shopper at the establishment during the Christmas rush.
