The police assure event will be safe

With reported threats circulating that Frankfield's Grand Market affair will become shooting ground and residents must stay away from this year's Christmas festivities, the Clarendon police hierarchy has assured the beleaguered northern Clarendon community that the Yuletide season will be safe.
Single individual
Commanding officer at the Clarendon Police Division, Superintendent Carol McKenzie, said he has personally met with the residents during the course of the week, and has assured them that barring an act of God, Grand Market will be safe in Frankfield.
Information reaching THE STAR indicates that the threats have been attributed to a single individual.
According to a reliable Star source, an AK-47 toting gunman has threatened to open fire on Grand Market shoppers in Frankfield.
"I met with some members of the community at a meeting last Wednesday, and I assured them in no uncertain term that they will have a safe Grand Market ... nobody except an act of God is going to stop that," the obviously perturbed superintendent insisted.
He added in a threatening tone:, "I hope that these people who are saying what is being said are aware and are listening. It will not happen, they will have a peaceful Grand Market."
Superintendent McKenzie, who was speaking in an interview with The Star, said, while he hasn't heard the threats personally, he nonetheless heard sotto voce remarks relating to the plan attack on the Frankfield town on Grand Market night.
