Haitian fisherman charged with illegal entry into Ja

A Haitian fisherman accused of illegally entering the island was fined when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Charged with illegal entry is 21-year-old Juby Klife.

Allegations are that the accused man arrived in the island sometime in August with three of his countrymen. However, after the journey, the accused man asserted that he was exhausted and took some time to rest. He said when he awoke, they were reportedly nowhere to be found.

It is believed that Klife has found it difficult to survive in the country; the accused has been depending on handouts to survive.

Following checks made to the immigration passenger's arrival and departure system, it was revealed that there was no record of the accused man's entry into Jamaica.

As a result, he was arrested and charged. When cautioned, it is believed that Klife said "me say nutten."

In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered the accused to pay a fine of $5,000 or serve 30 days in prison. A deportation order was also made against him.
