The body of an infant was discovered yesterday along Municipal Boulevard in the vicinity of the Christian Gardens Housing Scheme in Portmore, St Catherine.

A landscaper said he saw the bag on Monday with flies surrounding it but was uncertain of its contents.

It was not until yesterday morning that the contents of the bag were revealed, showing the decomposing body of the infant, speculated to be a male by residents, who had gathered from the neighbouring community.

"I was going to the bush this morning and I saw a portion of john crow," said landscaper Junior Carnegie.

According to information provided by the Corporate Communications Unit, the body is of dark complexion, approximately three pounds six ounces and is about 19 inches long.

The police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
