There was an outburst of laughter that erupted in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, after the court heard that a goat jumped out of an accused lap when he was stopped by the police.
Those charged are Samuel Panton, Joseph Graham, Oshane Forrest and Bramwell Bernard all of St Catherine addresses.
Allegations are that on December 27, the police were on patrol along the Spanish Town Bypass in St Catherine. A car was observed driving in a reckless manner and was signalled to stop.
Goat jumped
When it eventually stopped, the goat jumped from the vehicle.
The police then enquired of a receipt for ownership of the animal.
The sergeant told the court that he was given an address which turned out to be an open lot.
"When the car was stopped, a goat jumped out of the car. after investigations, they were charged with larceny," the clerk of court said.
The men were then told that their bails have been extended until April 7.
Resident Magistrate Horace Mitchell told the sergeant that he should still try to see if he can find the person who may have sold the goat.
