Six persons, including a St Vincent and the Grenadines national, are to face the courts after they were arrested in an early morning drug bust on Friday in Morant Bay.
Deputy Superintendent St George Jackson confirmed that an operation had taken place in Dumfries, where 1,300 pounds (590.9 kilograms) of compressed ganja, worth approximately $7 million, were seized from a premises in the area.
The police also recovered seven containers filled with fuel, suspected to be for boats used to export the drug. The individuals, who were also on the premises, were detained and brought to the Morant Bay police station for questioning.
Their names have not been released. The police suspect that the drugs were to be exported as part of the drugs-for-guns trade. The four males and two females are expected to be charged over the weekend.
