A Portmore man who allegedly burnt the house of his former lover was remanded when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Anthony Baker of Greater Portmore, St Catherine, will return to court on February 17 where his arson case will continue.

When the matter was mentioned, Baker was again remanded.

The clerk of court told the court that there were outstanding documents which were crucial to the case.

Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks then ordered that Baker remained with the police.

Allegations are that on June 28, 2014, Baker and the complainant had a dispute. He promised to burn down the house valued at $5 million.

On June 29, he called to say "mi do wa mi sey mi did aggo do."

The woman then returned to her premises and found her house gutted by fire. It is said that Baker called her and apologised for burning the house. A report was made and the accused was held by the police, he was positively identified by the complainant.

Following further investigations he was charged with arson.
