Chinese national robbed in Manchester

The Christiana police are now investigating a case of robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent and illegal possession of firearm committed during the robbery of a Chinese national who operates a business in that Manchester town.


According to police reports, on January 11, about noon, 38-year-old Yingbo Shen, who operates a supermarket in Christiana, was in the process of locking up his business place assisted by an employee, when they were pounced upon by two men armed with handguns.


The police reported that the gunmen went on to rob the businessman of a black scandal bag containing cash amounting to over $130,000, which represents the day's sales from the supermarket, as well as a bag containing assorted grocery items valued at $1,200 before escaping.


The police further reported that while making their escape the gunmen fired two shots, one which hit 60-year-old Eric Scott, a shoemaker from Christiana. It is understood that the shot hit Scott causing injuries to his pelvic region and left hand. He was rushed to the Percy Junor Hospital where he was treated and released. The police said the bullet lodged in Scott's left hand.


It was reported that the gunmen made their escape in a waiting white Nissan B14 motor car which was parked nearby. The police are asking persons who might have information related to the incident to contact the Christiana Police Station.
