A dispute over lunch while in police lock-up resulted in one man suffering from injuries to his face and another answering to wounding charges when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Pleading not guilty to unlawful wounding is 27-year-old Lorne Scott of a downtown Kingston address.
It is alleged that on December 19, around 11:45 p.m., the accused and the complainant were in a cell in the Half-Way Tree holding area when an argument developed between them about lunch.
According to reports, when the officer went to investigate, she saw the 38-year-old complainant with injuries to the bottom of his right eye and at the top and bottom of his left eye, with blood oozing out of the wounds.
The accused allegedly told the officer that the complainant was upset because he did not instruct his sister to bring lunch for him.
"Him waa mi sister bring lunch fi him, 'cause a di two a we charge together, and me only tell me sister fi bring one lunch, and a so we start fight."
Scott, who is on $30,000 bail, had his bail extended and is to return to court on February 9, when the medical certificate and the complainant will be brought to court.
