Up to late yesterday, police say they have been unable to find a man accused of brutally chopping a woman to death in St Ann on Friday. The man, whose name police have declined to release, attacked the woman, identified as Dorothy James, from Maida District, St Ann, during a dispute.
Police have not said what the dispute was about, but confirmed that both the victim and the attacker knew each other.
The Cave Valley police had reported that about 6:30 p.m. last Friday, James, a 39-year-old janitor, had a confrontation with the man. The police said that during the conflict, a machete was used to chop James several times.
She was pronounced dead at hospital.
When contacted on Sunday, the police were unable to give a motive for the attack, but said they were still searching for the machete-weilding attacker.
Persons with information are urged to contact the Cave Valley police at 902-8229, police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.
