A man who was reportedly robbed and stabbed multiple times while walking to the beach over the weekend, suffered even more trauma after his attackers allegedly used a cellphone to record their dastardly act.
According to the 23-year-old victim, on Saturday at around 10 A.M., he was walking along the Portmore Toll Road heading to the Port Henderson Beach, when a man attacked him.
"I was walking heading to the beach and I saw a person standing behind a light post, he had a golf stick in his hand and jumped out and beat me," he recounted.
The man said while he was being beaten, two other men approached him and attempted to rob him of his gold bracelet and chain but he put up a fight and they were unsuccessful.
Recording him
He said while being robbed, one of the assailants took out his cellular phone and appeared to be recording him while wielding a knife in his other hand, much to the annoyance of the man who was beating him with the golf club.
"Two others came out and one had a cell phone in his hand and he was videoing me and had another knife in his hand, the guy with the golf club was telling the one with the phone in his hand 'stab him! Stab him!' but he appeared to be too busy recording."
The man told THE STAR that he was able to escape the grasp of his attackers briefly and made a run for the highway, seeking assistance from passing motorists.
"I ran into the highway, few cars saw me and swerved around me as I asked for help. I managed to stop a truck driver by beating on the side of the truck, the man stopped, while I was explaining to him that I was being robbed the man with the golf stick came behind me and stabbed me."
He told THE STAR that he received several stab wounds to his side, back and hip.
Warning shot
According to the victim, it was after being stabbed, that the truck driver used his licensed firearm to fire a warning shot in the air in a bid to scare off his attacker.
He said the sound of the gunshot alerted residents who reportedly rushed to scene to see what was taking place.
According to the victim, after pointing out one of the men as his attacker, the residents allegedly ganged and beat the man for about twenty minutes until members from the police force came to his rescue.
He told THE STAR that he was taken to the Waterford Police Station by his rescuer, where he made a report and later sought treatment for his stab wounds.
THE STAR contacted the Corporate Communications Unit and they confirmed the incident, stating that the Waterford Police Station currently has in custody, 19-year-old Ricardo Marson o/c Ricky Blacks of an Olympic Gardens address in relation to the incident.
