Three men charged in connection with the theft of a number of motor vehicles valued at $85 million were remanded when they appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

They will have to stay with the police until November 18 when the matter will again be mentioned.

Those charged with unlawful possession of property are Philbert Turpin, Dwight Davids and Joel Savoury all of Rosemount district, St Catherine.

When the matter came up in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, the court heard that the accused Savoury had a previous conviction for a similar offence.

Resident Magistrate Lyle Armstrong then ordered that all three accused be remanded.

Allegations are that on October 15, 2014, members of the Linstead Police Station, acting on information, proceeded to a remote section of Rosemount. Upon the arrival of the party, three men were observed in the area where the scrapped vehicles were.

Checks by the police revealed a large quantity of motor vehicle parts and partially scrapped vehicles.

The men were taken into custody and following investigations, Davids,Turpin and Savoury were taken into custody.

They were charged with larceny following a further probe in the matter.
