A University of Technology student who stole money and reported a fictitious story to the police had his bail extended before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
Michael Rodriquez is charged with simple larceny and creating public mischief. He was ordered fingerprinted.
The Court heard, that the accused was given cheques and money to deposit in various banks along Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston, amounting to more than $100,000. It is alleged that he stole the money and made fictitious reports to the police of robbery with aggravation.
The complainant whose money he took reported the matter.
Rodriquez would later change his story, telling the police that he had given the money to a friend. The police went to the individual's house and discovered the money.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered that the accused have more discussions with his attorney.
