Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey yesterday denied bail for the three cops from the Area Three Police Division, who have been slapped with murder charges.
They are constables Carl Bucknor, Jerome Whyte and Detective Corporal Kevin Adams, who all appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Detective Corporal Adams, who is charged with four murders, is being represented by attorney-at-law Valerie Neita-Robertson, while Churchhill Neita stood for the constables Bucknor and Whyte. The cops were charged by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
Allegations are that Adams is charged with the killing of Adif Washington on January 14, 2013; Anthony Trought on February 13, 2012; Andrew Bisson on September 5, 2011 and Sylvester Gallimore on May 5, 2011.
Bucknor is charged with the murder of Andrew Bisson on September 5, 2011 while Whyte has been charged with the murder of Anthony Trought on February 13, 2012.
Neita-Robertson argued for her client to be admitted to bail as she said that he is not a flight risk.
She said her client, who was in the United States when the matter came up, voluntarily turned himself in, instead of doing otherwise.
However, RM Pusey said she didn't agree with the point that he turned himself in voluntarily as his hands were tied.
INDECOM had said that its investigation has led the commission to suspect that there are other incidents that were first reported as homicides involving civilians and gunmen, but were later found to be police involved fatalities.
