Matie fight stops traffic

May Pen, Clarendon, was plunged into high drama Wednesday afternoon, after a love triangle ended in a fist fight between two men, who caused a traffic jam as they battled each other over a 30-year-old woman in the town centre.

The drama unfolded after a 34-year-old man and a 50-year-old correctional officer both turned up at the same time to pick up their 'browning' at the Bargain Village Plaza, and neither would relent.

frightened woman

According to police report, the correctional officer, after travelling from Spanish Town, St Catherine, was just in time to see what he thought was his, 'one and only' getting into a white Toyota Corolla motor car.

The enraged warder used his car to block the path of the other motorist, and proceeded to pull the frightened woman from the vehicle.

However, the Corolla driver, also in a rage, emerged from his car, armed with a lug tool, and both men began trading blows on each other. The two warring maties, who drew a large crowd of onlookers, were eventually parted by a passing policeman.

laugh and jeered

"I was patrolling inside the plaza and I see this crowd so I went over to look what was happening. To my surprise, nuh two big men a fight, guess over what - a woman," the policeman told The Weekend Star. "Me just handcuffed them together and marched them down to the station with people a laugh and jeered them all the way."

The cop said both men are booked for the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court on May 16. They are charged with malicious destruction of property arising from damages to a 2014 VW Amarak pickup truck that was parked nearby.

"Suppose you see how the two fools mash up the man new van. It's about $200,000 worth of damage them cause, and to make matters worse, even the woman a laugh after them," the lawman added.
