What was intended to be a night of fun turned out to be a nightmare for some patrons who attended an event at popular hotel in central Jamaica.
It is understood that about 20 patrons, who were on their way home after the event had ended, were held up at gunpoint by three gunmen who took them to a nearby abandoned building and proceeded to rob them of valuables, including cash, cell phones and jewellery.
"Di man dem hold on pon we an' tek we to this old building and lock we up. When dem push me and mi catty inna di building, is about nine other people we see inside deh. Afterwards, dem bring more people and lock dem up wid all a we," one of the victims recalled.
According to the victim, about 20 persons in total we taken to the location and all were robbed and then set free by their captors.
"Mi just glad say dem never harm none a we. The whole time mi a fret and a think bout mi two yute dem," the victim said.
The incident has been the hot topic among taxi operators and residents in the area and surrounding community.
The victim, who chose to remain anonymous, said he didn't report the incident to the police as he feared for his life and also felt ashamed.
Efforts to get a comment from a senior officer in the parish where the incident occurred proved futile up to press time last night.
