Clarke, however, refuted this stating, "I don't know her like that to say anything about her private parts."

Though admitting to hitting the complainant, he told the court that he did not cut her in the face, but instead, "we were fighting, a car was there and she hit in the car, and that's how she got the cut."

The very emotional complainant, however, refuted his allegations stating, "is multiple times him tump me inna mi face. Mi get four stitches, Your Honour."

Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey asked the accused, "Why do you think you shouldn't go to jail for this? To which he responded, "This is the first time anything like this ever happen to me!" to which RM Pusey asked, "Whatever happened to you? I don't see you with any injuries, she has the mark in her face."

The accused, in a bid to clarify, stated, "I meant getting into trouble with the law, Your Honour," to which RM Pusey quipped, "Well, if you tump people inna dem face, that's what happens."

Clarke was remanded into custody, and is to return to court on May 2 for sentencing.
