Vybz Kartel - file
The Facebook page titled 'Vybz Kartel Video and Pics Exposed' was shut down on the weekend, but has now returned.
Since last week, images, audio and video recordings, some of which were entered into evidence during the recently concluded Vybz Kartel Murder Trial, had been making the rounds over the Internet, sending tongues wagging.
The images and video recordings were posted on a Facebook page titled 'Vybz Kartel Video and Pics Exposed', the items allegedly taken from the artiste's cellular phone, which has been in police custody.
Included are: Vybz Kartel in compromising positions with several females including his common-law wife, 'Shorty'. Images of guns, a beheaded body and coils of cash could also be seen, along with the video clip of the night Clive 'Lizard' Williams allegedly met his death, which sealed the artiste's fate.
However, there has been much public debate as to how or why these pictures and videos were released.
own opinion
One music producer associated with Kartel told THE STAR that he thinks there is still a plot against the artiste.
The producer who requested anonymity said, "All the blind can see that a di powers that be send out those images. They want to discredit him in every way possible. People a talk bout leaked, they were released to the public. All Facebook page and group dem create, whole heap a style thing."
THE STAR also spoke to several persons living outside of Jamaica, who have been tracking the historical murder trial.
Simone Reynolds, of the United States, said, "I don't believe the things I am seeing. It's is a hot topic in the States and persons have their own opinion and stuff, but I just don't think it is fair."
Jomo Lawrence, who lives in Trinidad, questions the way in which evidence is handled in Jamaica and says post Kartel trial is still a hot topic.
"During the trial, we saw many instances were the evidence was tampered with and even after the trial it goes further, pictures, videos just leak out so? No man, evidence should be safe and secure. I don't believe in it, everybody here talking ..."
Efforts by our news team to speak with attorneys representing Vybz Kartel, Tom Tavares-Finson and Christian Tavares-Finson, proved futile.
Kartel is to serve 35 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole. His co-accused, 'Shawn Storm' is to serve 25 years before he is eligible for parole, Kahira Jones- 25 years and Andre St John, 30 years.
