Police increase presence in west Kingston

There has been an increase in police presence in west Kingston following the shooting incident on Friday night, which left two persons dead and nine others injured.

The latest increase in the number of police personnel came follows the release of the names of several persons who the police say can assist them in their investigations.


When THE STAR visited the community yesterday, police personnel were spotted at checkpoints monitoring the movement of the residents. According to the police, they were also there to appease the concerns and fears of the residents.


Nine-year-old, Kevon McAnuff and 28-year-old Ricardo Lowe were gunned down when armed thugs opened fire on a group of residents near Charles Street and Chestnut Lane on Friday night.


Reports are that nine other persons were injured during the incident.

Yesterday afternoon when THE STAR contacted the western Kingston Police Division, the news team was informed that only two persons who had been listed as persons of interest had turned themselves in.


Those who are still being sought are Dillon Lobban, otherwise called 'Kaka", and Alex Omar Johnson, alias 'Singer J' or 'Little Best'; Kirk Stephenson, also called 'Ever Ruff' or 'Titus'; and Shamal White, alias 'Gov' or 'Omar White'.


Other members of the New Generation gang who have been linked to the gun attack are Lanchester Coke, alias 'Bomber'; Andre Coke, alias 'Livity' and Javaein Coke, otherwise called 'Ticko'.


Andrew Coke Junior, also called 'Porchable'; and Michael Coke, alias 'Titty Man' are also on the list.
