Man on murder rap gets bail extension

A St Catherine man who was accused of using a piece of board to beat another to death five years ago, had his bail extended when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.


When Roy Williams appeared in court his matter was postponed until April 23, when the matter will again be mentioned.


Williams is charged in connect with the death of Patrick McFarlane of a Spanish Town address.


Allegations are that in August 2009, the accused returned home and found the now deceased inside his house.


An argument developed during which McFarlane was attacked and beaten with a piece of wood. The accused died on the spot as a result of the injuries received.


Williams reportedly attacked his wife and reigned blows over her body which resulted in both her arms being broken.


An investigation was launched which resulted in the accused being charged with murder and two counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
