A 19-year-old man involved in a cross case with an 18-year-old man, both of whom are accused of robbing a woman of her cellular phone, a quantity of money and a passport, were remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The accused men, 18-year-old Jawar Stephenson and 19-year-old Delano Barrett of Mark Lane, Kingston, addresses, are jointly charged with unlawful possession of property and robbery with aggravation.

The Crown's version states that both men were working together to hold up and rob the complainant; they relieved her of her handbag. The Crown alleged that the men were able to show the police where the bag was deposited at a location on Oxford Road in New Kingston, subsequent to being arrested.
Stephenson's version is that on the day in question, along a section of Oxford Road in New Kingston, he was crossing the road when a ratchet knife he was carrying on his person fell. Upon picking up the knife, he noticed that a woman, now frightened, dropped her bag and ran off leaving it in the street. Subsequently, he called to the woman and gave chase in an attempt to hand her the bag. Unsuccessful, he proceeded to throw the bag over a wall a short way off hoping someone would later find the bag, and return it to its owner.
Barrett's version (as told by his attorney) is that his client denies the allegations outright, refuting any involvement with the co-accused.
Resident Magistrate Lorna-Shelly Williams remanded Stephenson in custody until April 7 pending a social-inquiry report. Barrett was remanded in custody pending trial on March 21.
