Architect to know fate in April

An architect who spent almost one year with his client's money and withheld the drawing he was paid for, will know his fate on April 4.

Charged with failure to deliver goods on the contracted date is André Amber.

On Friday when the matter was called up, Amber told the court that he sent the drawing to the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) for verification. That did not go down well with Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, who asked, "Where is the drawing?"

The court was told that the female complainant paid Amber $425,000 in April 2013 and to date she has not seen a blueprint.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked, "When can I get the drawing?" Amber told the resident magistrate, "I can bring it on Monday".

The RM then requested to see a copy of the receipt to verify that the accused had in fact gone to the KSAC.

To her amazement, the receipt revealed that Amber had just visited the KSAC on the same morning, before he attended court.

He was warned by the senior magistrate to attend with a copy of the drawing.
