Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

Former special Sergeant Peter Murphy has been charged in connection with the shooting of a female more than a week ago.

Murphy was charged by the Spanish Town police on Tuesday night following a question-and-answer session by detectives.

He is facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and shooting with intent.

He is slated to face the court later this week.

Reports are that on Thursday last, the former sub-officer of the ISCF was said to have accosted a woman with whom he had a relationship. He tried to have her enter a motor car he was driving, a struggle developed and explosions were heard.

The woman was later found with gunshot wounds to the head.

Murphy was subsequently taken into custody.
