The case involving top local deejay Vybz Kartel continued yesterday with a man with tattoos on his forearms being called into court to determine if they were similar to the tattoos or body paint a police witness had seen in a video tendered in the case
Defence lawyer, Tamika Harris, was cross-examining Detective Sergeant Patrick Linton, the former head of the Cybercrimes Unit, when she sought permission from the court for the man to come into the courtroom and show his forearms.
After the man left the courtroom, the witness was asked if what was on the man's forearms looked similar to the one he had seen in the videos bearing the dates August 16, 2011, and September 24, 2011.
"The words I saw in the photograph had what appeared to be bright-coloured red ink around each letter, different from what I have just been shown," Linton replied.
Linton said the word 'Worl' was on one arm and 'Boss' was on the other arm of the man who was called into court. The words did not have any red ink around them. Linton was then asked if shades and colouring on a camera was one of the features of the function of a camera, but Linton said he was not a professional photographer.
When he was first questioned about the video, Linton said he saw a person in the video with a tattoo marked 'Boss' and 'Worl'.
Questioned if the words were in body paint or tattoos, he said it appeared to be a tattoo. He said he did not see the face of the person with the tattoo.
Cross-examined by defence lawyer, Michael Lorne, he said no one was present to represent the interest of the suspect when he was making his examinations of the cell phone. He said it was not the practice to have other persons in the cybercrimes lab while such a procedure was being done.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is on trial along with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell, also known as Shawn Storm; Kahira Jones; Shane Williams; and André St John for the August 16, 2011, murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams, who was allegedly killed because of two missing guns.
The trial will continue next Tuesday in the Home Circuit Court.
