Two males and a female who were accused of robbing a teenager of her mobile phone were sentenced to six months in prison after they gave evidence against each other in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.
The trio, two of whom pleaded guilty, gave conflicting stories about the same incident, and in the end they were all found guilty.
Charged with robbery with aggravation is Raheem Bailey, 19, unemployed and 18-year-old Oshane Barnes, vendor, both from Golden Heights, Kingston 14, also charged is Shenell Wonder, 21, of Denham Town, also in Kingston.
Allegations are that on February 26, about 6.30 p.m., the female complainant was at the intersection of Red Hills Road and Washington Boulevard when she was pounced upon by the three accused.
The court heard that the teenage girl was robbed of her mobile phone valued at $9,000 and a head phone valued at $500.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, before handing down her sentence, said the sons and daughters of the country should be able to walk freely without being robbed and harmed.
