Senior citizen dragged to court for his action
An elderly man who threw rotten eggs at a young lady, allegedly because she was not interested in him, was fined yesterday when he appeared in court.
Charged with common assault is Carlton McBridge of a western Kingston address.
When McBridge appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, he pleaded guilty and offered the court an explanation for his action.
The court heard that on the day in question the accused threw three rotten eggs after the much younger complainant.
The complainant who was present in court said, "Your honour is because him a look me and mi nuh interested..."
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked the accused, "Did you throw the eggs at her?"
McBridge said, "Yes your honour but a because dem a provoke me and call me all sort of names."
He went on to claim that he was being called a homosexual and was also being accused of participating in oral sex.
The magistrate told him to find other ways to resolve disputes.
McBridge was fined $3,000 and a fingerprint order made.
